Myron Kerzman, 72, Minot, formerly of Garrison, died Thursday morning in a Minot nursing home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St . Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison. Burial will be at the church cemetery. A rosary will be said on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the church.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 – 6 pm at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Myron Francis Kerzman was born September 16, 1941, in Garrison, N.D. to Anthony and Hattie (Lanz) Kerzman. He grew up on a farm near White Shield, N.D. and graduated in 1959 from White Shield High School.
Following high school, Myron attended Minot State College and North Dakota State University, where he pursued a pre-med degree. He enlisted in the National Guard and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis.
He married Leona Senger on November 11, 1965, and settled in Garrison. Throughout his professional life, Myron worked as an insurance salesman and owned both a TV and appliance store and a flower shop.
Myron brimmed with curiosity and loved music. He amassed a large vinyl record collection and enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley, the Statler Brothers, and the Ventures. He had a great love for the natural world and loved all kinds of plants--flowers and trees most of all. He was a devout Catholic and regularly attended mass at St. Nicholas Catholic Church and St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot.
He is survived by son Kelly Kerzman of Snohomish, Wash., and children Amanda and Amber; daughter Kim Engelhard of West Fargo and children Alicia (Matthew) Hauff, Dana (Dave) Dannewitz, Chelsey, and Zach; daughter Karmen (Steve) Seidler of Garrison and children Benjamin (Kasey), Samantha, and Adam; daughter Kathy Rey of Columbia, Ill. and her children Sydney, Haley, and Madison; son Kristopher (Britta) Kerzman of Moorhead, Minn. and daughter Edith; brothers Charley Kerzman of Wheatland, Wyo., Bob Kerzman of Bismarck, and Tom Kerzman of Grand Forks; sisters Bernadine Ellwein of Garrison and Phyllis Cumings of Lumberton, N.C.; and three great-grandsons.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Rose Kerzman, and his wife.
