IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Myron Dale
Mai
August 10, 1942 – July 13, 2018
Myron Dale "Moe" Mai, 75, Garrison, died on Friday, July 13, 2018 at his home. Private family services will be held at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison. All of Myron's family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering being held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 3 to 6 pm at Hunter's Bar in Garrison.
Myron was born August 10, 1942 to Ervin and Emma (Wagner) Mai in Beulah, ND. He was raised and educated in Golden Valley graduating in 1960. He served in the National Guard as a marksman for 6 years getting honorably discharged in 1970.
Myron married Brenda Stumvoll on November 30, 1968. They later divorced, but from this union came six beautiful brats! Brats or not, Myron loved them with all his heart, through both good times and tough times. His love never wavered, and that love continued to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Myron loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports, especially basketball. He traveled many miles to watch them play, always having a little advice for the coach after the game! He also liked to watch basketball, football, and NASCAR on TV. His beloved doggies, Charlie and Baxter, were a close second to his family and he cherished them deeply. Myron always had a mischievous grin and he loved to poke fun and joke around. Even if he was gruff, he was a gentle giant. He will be truly missed by his family and friends, but everyone will find peace in the memory of his shit eatin' grin!
Most of Myron's life was spent working in construction. He worked for Tony Mann Drilling and Jerry Kerzmann and held various construction jobs throughout the state. He retired after working many years as a payloader operator for Border States Paving.
Myron is survived by his children, Jenelle (Randy) Anderson of Minot, Sue (Jim) Schlehr of Garrison, Cate (Doug) Bladow of Wahpeton, Kristina (Casey) Steele of Garrison, Amy (Steve) Bauer of Tucson, AZ, and Mike Mai of Watford City, ND, 13 grandchildren, Samantha (Andrew) Greenwaldt, Alex Lind, Josie Lind, Emily Schlehr, Cara Schlehr, McKenna Mai, McKailyn Steele, McKambrey Steele, McKesden Steele, and McKoah Steele, Jaiden Bauer, Addison Bauer, and Maiyah Mai, and 2 great grandchildren Hudson and Bellamy Greenwaldt; siblings, Eldor Mai, Bismarck, ND, Carol (Rodney) Welke, Minot, ND, Jerry (LaRue) Mai, Bismarck, ND; and sister-in-law, Marcia Mai, Rockford, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James, sister-in-law, Elna Mai and nephew, Dean Mai.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
