Nora White Bear, 80, Mandan, formerly of White Shield, died on Friday, November 27, 2020 at her home.  A rosary will be said on Wednesday at 10:00 am at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.  Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery south of White Shield.  Masks and social distancing will be required for all services.

Nora (Bendickson) White Bear was born February 1, 1940 to John Bendickson and Louise Azure. She attended grade school and graduated from Marty Mission School in Ft. Yates, ND. During the 1960s she went to Nursing School in Chicago, Ill. She met her future husband Edmund White Bear in Chicago. While living in Chicago they had 4 children (Baby White bear, James, Candace, and Edmund Jr.) Nora then became a stay at home mother.

In 1972 they moved back to North Dakota and resided in Washburn, ND until 1977 where they moved to the White Bear family farm. In 1982 they welcomed a daughter(Amber). Nora then returned to work in 1988 at White Shield School as a teacher aide. She also attended Fort Berthold Community College where she earned a AA Degree in Early Childhood Education. She worked until she retired in 2004. Nora moved to Minneapolis, MN to help take care of her grandchildren. In 2018 she moved to Bismarck, ND until her passing.

She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing Bingo, quilting, watching her grandchildren play basketball.

Nora is survived by her children, James A. White Bear, Tulalip, WA, Candace (Darren Sr.) Meyers, Bismarck, Edmund Jr (Elizabeth) White Bear Minot, ND, Amber White Bear, Bismarck, ND., 19 Grandchildren and 20 Great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by: Edmund White Bear Sr. (husband), Baby White Bear (son), her Parents (John Bendickson Sr. and Louise Azure), Lucille (sister), John Bendickson Jr (brother), and 3 grandchildren.
