Obituary

Robert Joseph Retterath, 89, Garrison, died on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the Garrison Memorial Hospital. Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, May 31, 2018 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison and the funeral on Friday, June 1 at 10:30 am.

Robert (Bob) was born September 6, 1928 to Joe and Effie (Clark) Retterath on the family farm in rural Douglas where he remained until his retirement. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Bjorlie, on December 27, 1954, at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot, ND.

Bob loved being with people and always had time to visit with family, friends or anyone who crossed his path. Bob and Phyllis created a home where everyone was welcome and extras were often sitting around the table playing games. No one could bring a smile to a group of people more readily than Bob. His sense of humor, endless reserve of jokes and playful antics left everyone laughing. His ability to draw people in and his unconditional love will be missed by family and friends.

Bob is survived by sons, Bruce (Linda) Retterath, Grand Rapids, MI, Mark (Julie) Retterath, Garrison, ND, Mike (Audra) Retterath, Woodbury, MN, daughters Cherie (Brett) McAtee, Mesa, AZ, Shelly (Jim) Davis, South Jordan, UT, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; surviving sister, Iveas Carlson, brother in law, Bill Hedin.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, infant son, Robert Jay, son, Robert Todd, grandson, Matthew Retterath.
