Roderick James Belgarde, 86, of Garrison, passed away September 26, 2023.

Roderick was born to Christine Belgarde Persicke and raised with three younger brothers in Dunseith, ND. He was educated in Dunseith, ND and graduated from high school in Flandreau, SD.

Roderick enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for a while, he was honorably discharged in 1964.

Roderick decided he wanted to be a Brick Layer, he did his apprenticeship in Great Falls, MT. While in Great Falls he met his wife, Norlene. Four years later, his plan to go to Anchorage, AK became a reality. He loved Alaska, he enjoyed hunting, dip netting Salmon, and wintertime sports. Roderick even did a snow machine race to Nome, AK with a team of four people. They won that gruesome race!

In 1995, Roderick and family moved to North Dakota. Rod loved hunting and fishing while working for a few different contractors until retirement in 2002.

Roderick was always ready for a card game, especially cribbage and hand to foot with family and friends.

Roderick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Norlene; children, Janice (John) Martin, Yorba Linda, CA, Shealia (Eddy) Raught, Carnation, WA, Donna Belgarde, Bismarck, ND; nine grandchildren, Mike, Kristin, Garrett, Chase, and Matthew of CA, Nick, Brandyn and Andrew of WA, Ashton of Bismarck, ND; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lillian Belgarde, Anchorage, AK; and many cousins.

A Celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on October 21, 2023, at the Cubby Hole, Garrison, ND.
