Ruby Hudgen, 76, Garrison, died on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at a Garrison hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery in rural Garrison.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1 to 7 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.

Ruby Marie (Jungling) Hudgen was born on July 28, 1937 in Garrison, ND to Ben and Olga (Hummel) Jungling, the youngest of three girls. She was raised and educated in Garrison, graduating from Garrison High School in 1957.

Ruby married Robert (Nick) Hudgen at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison on June 2, 1957. After marriage, they traveled with Nick's employment, before returning to Garrison and starting their family with three children. They eventually settled in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, which was Nick's hometown. In 1972, Ruby's loving husband died, leaving her to return to Garrison to raise her kids with the help of her family. Ruby worked for several years as a bartender at Parker's Bar and several other businesses.

Ruby enjoyed spending time with her TOPS group and friends. She enjoyed crocheting and doing craft work while she was able. She loved wind chimes and loud houses. She was a great cook, especially her German food. Everyone loved gathering at Ruby's table.

Ruby's greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Everyone knows she was the best grandma ever! She was a very caring and giving person. She always had a way of making things better. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends and was very well known and liked.

Ruby is survived by two sons, Nick Hudgen, Mike (Donna) Hudgen, daughter, Denise (Scott Dewitz) Hudgen, all of Garrison; three granddaughters, Shawna, Megan, and Jade; two grandsons, Ben and Jacob; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Agnes (Harold) Lindsey, Garrison; brother, Jim Hummel, Garrison; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert (Nick), and her sister, Donna (Jungling) Partyka.
