Obituary

Russell Everett Sr., 64, Parshall, died on Thursday, December 8, 2016 near New Town. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at the Ralph Wells Jr. Memorial Complex in White Shield. Wake services will be held on Sunday at 5:00 pm at the complex. Burial will be at the Arikara Congregational Cemetery in White Shield.

Russell W. Everett was born September 4, 1952 in Garrison, ND to Theodore Sr. and Betty (Fox) Everett. He was raised and educated in White Shield, ND. At a very young age, Russell took a liking to Madonna Dickens. They were inseparable and eventually started their family. He had 3 sons and 5 daughters together. He lost one daughter, Anna M. Benson, but she is survived by her daughter, Winona Benson. All together they have 25 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Later in life Russell had a special friend and companion, Shari Northrop from Parshall.

Russell was a very talented person with a lot of roles. He was a carpenter, cabinet maker, auto painter, autobody mechanic, and janitor. He was also a very good artist and musician. He could create all sorts of things, including doll houses, tree houses, and a remote car for his first son. While living in Alaska he volunteered to be a security guard for Kadie Lang and Chuck Connors, which he was honored and proud.

He loved animals and took very good care of his garden, naming it "Chris's Garden", after his grandson that died, something he was very proud of. He was also very dedicated to his companion, Shari. As a younger man he was a champion wrestler when he lived in Wahpeton. He also boxed, but his dream was to go to art school.

Russell was always the life of the party with his wonderful charisma. He could always make everyone laugh. He will be dearly missed by everyone. He was everyone's favorite brother, uncle, and cousin. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was very proud of his family. He was one of a kind and no one can ever take over his show.

Russell was very proud to be a descendent of Son of Star and Sitting Bear. He had a very fitting Indian name, "Star Elk". He was his own "Star of the Show" when he was singing or playing his guitar. He always wanted to look good and feel like the "Star".

Russell wrote his own song when they struck the "Twin Towers". He was proud to have done that to honor the people who were killed. He belonged to many different band groups including the Tumble Weed Express, Michael James Band, Six Mile Creek Band, and others that we don't want to leave out. Russell loved to "Rock and Roll".

Russell is survived by his companion, Shari; children, Heather Everett, Mickel Everett, Michelle Everett, Russell Everett Jr., Chris Everett Sr., and Rebecca Dickens; brothers and sisters-in-law, Theodore "Lucky" (Alice) Everett Jr., Ben Everett, and Lloyd Everett; sisters and brother-in-law, Karen (Robert) Mulluk, and Cathy Oshkeshequam; 25 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Cory and Marlin Everett, sister, Carmlita Everett, and a grandson, Chris Everett Jr.
