IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sallie H.
Pochant
July 18, 1963 – May 4, 2019
Sallie H. Pochant, 55, Coleharbor, died on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the Riverdale High Lodge Gymnasium with Rev. Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Burial will be held at the Coleharbor Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Sallie was born July 18, 1963 in Bismarck, ND to Edward and Ellen (Schulte) Lange. She was raised and educated in Center, ND graduating from Center High School in 1981. At the age of 13 she began working with her dad at Fisher Sand and Gravel out of Riverdale where she worked for several years until she went to work for a contractor working on the gas plant in Beulah. On December 4, 1986 she started her 32-year career working for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, holding several different positions, finishing as an engineering equipment operator leader (aka-"The Boss"). Because of her health she was forced to retire on December 14, 2018.
On June 14, 1986 Sallie married Jeff Pochant at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Riverdale. Following their marriage, they made their home on the farm a mile east of Riverdale. They started their family in 1988 with the birth of their son, Josh, who was followed by a daughter, Miranda.
Sallie helped with all aspects of the farming and ranching operations. Her true love was horses and rodeoing. Sallie spent endless hours taking care of her horses and traveling to rodeos with her kids. Barrel racing was her forte, but she also showed horses.
Sallie was a spirited person who had a very strong personality. She was never shy about letting you know where she stood, but she also had a very kind heart. She had a soft spot for kids and was "the other mom" to many kids that she treated like her own. She will be greatly missed by many, many people all over the state, but her spirit will live on!
Sallie is survived by her husband, Jeff; children, Josh Pochant, Miranda (Dylan) Tetzloff, all of Coleharbor; mother, Ellen Lange, Center; sister, Susie (Dennis) Hagel, Hazen; brother, Keith Lange, Center; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws; and her beloved horses and dogs, Player, CW Rain Cloud, Hope, Hailey, Sassie, and grand-puppy, Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Lange, and father and mother-in-law, Henry "Hank" and Ruth Pochant.
