Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 6 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Sally was born November 25, 1951 in Minot, ND to Rudolph and Evelyn (Edwardson) Brendle. She was raised on a farm west of Parshall near what is known as Brendle Bay on Lake Sakakawea. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Parshall, where she first met the love of her life at the age of 4, little Timmy Nordquist. She attended school in Parshall, graduating from Parshall High School in 1969. The Class of '69 was very important to Sally and she remained close to all of them throughout the years.
Following graduation, Sally attended Dickinson State College, graduating with a degree in secondary education in Earth Science. Her first employment was working as general secretary for the ND State Fair Association under Manager Vern Stevick. On December 17, 1977, Sally married that cute little boy from church, Tim Nordquist at First Lutheran Church in Parshall. They lived in Bismarck for a couple years where Sally worked as the travel coordinator for Basin Electric.
Sally and Tim were blessed with their only child, Cory Nathan, on March 4, 1981. They moved their family to Garrison in the summer of 1982. Before Cory's school years, Sally was a stay at home mom and provided daycare for a number of children. After Cory started school, Sally began working as the morning waitress at the Dairy Queen. She later worked at Cenex in Garrison for a number of years. In 1994, she began her job as the office manager for the Camp of the Cross Ministries and part-time secretary for St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was very active in the WELCA. She very much enjoyed her time at both before retiring in 2010.
Sally had many hobbies including hunting and fishing. She and Tim moved her old office from the Camp of the Cross to the "Brendle Coulee" on her family's land. She was very proud to have a place to hunt and spend time with her family on the land she grew up loving. She also enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, and cruising in her Mustang! Sally and her family were also huge Bison fans, attending numerous games and always sporting the Bison flag outside the house.
In May of 2015 Sally lost the love of her life, Tim, to cancer. Though he could never be replaced, Sally was supremely blessed July 27, 2015 with her granddaughter, Bryn Ava. Bryn was a gift that Sally cherished beyond what people call a "grandchild". She believed Bryn was a gift from God and could only imagine Tim smiling from heaven as he watched Sally hold her. Bryn now has two beautiful angels watching over her for eternity!
Sally is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Cory and Tina, and their daughter, Bryn Ava; her sister, Diane (Kenny), Rasmusson, Valley City, ND; brother, Darrel Brendle, Parshall, ND; brother-in-law, Dennis (Cindy) Nordquist, Minot, ND; sister-in-law, Julie Bartleson, Fargo, ND; nieces and nephews, Jodi (Jesse) Pabst, Pete (Stacy) Rasmusson, Sandy (Chuck) Hoogendorn, Christa (Troy) Brunsell, and Chad (Britt) Nordquist, Molly (Bryan) Schagel, Matt (Angela) Bartleson, and her beloved cat, Domino.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tim, parents, Rudolph and Evelyn Brendle, her in-laws, Orville and Selma "Sally" Nordquist, and a nephew, Bruce Nordquist.
