Obituary

Scott Peterson, 47, Garrison, died suddenly on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at the Garrison Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. Burial will be at the Garrison City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Scott Gaylen Peterson was the 6th child of 7 born August 3, 1972 in Minot, ND, to Gaylen and Judy (Vaagen) Peterson. He was the first boy in the family, which was something special, just as he proved to be. Throughout his childhood he loved anything outdoors, sports, or fishing. He especially loved to pull pranks. He attended school in Carpio, ND before moving to Garrison where he attended Bob Callies Elementary School until the 7th grade. He then moved with his family to Colorado where he finished his education, graduating from Elizabeth High School. Scott graduated from Metro State College in Colorado with an associate degree in business.
Scott had various jobs in Colorado, mostly building and rebuilding things! In 1997 he married Teresa Freeman, whom he had known since childhood. From this union they had their daughter Delaney Joy, who joined Scott's other children, Bryn and Angel, and Teresa's children, Hunter and Makenna. Eventually their family relocated back to North Dakota with the rest of his family and they raised their children under one roof, which was always Scott's dream. Unfortunately, Scott and Teresa's lives went in different directions and in 2017 they sadly divorced
While living in North Dakota, Scott worked at ING, working his way into management. He was also an ironworker, farm hand, and most recently worked as the maintenance supervisor at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison and was to begin as Operations Plant Manager at the plant in Center. He loved seeing all his "people"! He was so proud of his family and his love was endless. Scott was a man of so many talents. He could handle anything brought to him and was always trying to fix everything, from cars, houses, or family. He had a wonderful smile and laugh, and he will be remembered with love by so many.
Scott is survived by his children Brynanne Lee, Angel Shorten (Dave), Delaney Peterson and Makenna Linz; grandchildren, Jazmyn Ferguson and Jace Lee, Huxley and Kyden Linz; beloved parents, Judy (John) Solem; sisters, Brenda Kinn (Richard), Ginger Shearer (Gary), Denise Kolden (Darren), Pam Mendez (Saulo), Penny Skuza (Ken), Becky Majeres (Don); half-brother, Colin Peterson (Tanya), loving significant other and her children, Desiree, Triniti and Archer; lifelong friend, Teresa Peterson, fur babies, Skeeter Bug Peterson and Stearling Hunter Peterson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and 1000's of friends.
He was preceded in death by his, father, Gaylen Peterson, grandparents, Nels and Evelyn Peterson, grandmother, Evelyn Eskelson, grandfather, Severien Vaagen, son Hunter Linz, cousin, Jerene Vaagen and great nephew, Jason Kallberg.
