Obituary
Colleen "Tolly" Holtan, 73 rural Garrison, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2015 due to complications of heart failure while in Pueblo. Colorado. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 8th at 1PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison North Dakota. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-8PM at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison North Dakota.
Tolly was born on April 23, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Helen and James Igoe. During her childhood, her parents moved to the great plains of North Dakota, where they continued to grow their family. Tolly was one of nine amazing Igoe children. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1960, attended college for two years at the University of North Dakota and started to tread her own path in life. While setting new trends for the women of North Dakota, Tolly and Byron raised 5 children and opened their home to relatives and neighbors without ever asking for anything in return. One of her greatest traits was sheer determination. She established herself as a leader, entrepreneur and outdoorswoman.
Tolly is survived by her loving and supportive husband Byron and her four remaining children, Tarryl (Cameron) Gabel of Poughkeepsie, New York; Dawn (Bob) Primeaux of Arvada, Colorado; Kelly (Dale) Sorge of Bismarck, North Dakota; John (Kara) Holtan of Conroe, Texas; Sibliings Irish Linnertz of Bismarck, North Dakota, Kitty (Jerry) Martin of Pueblo West, Colorado; James (Ellen) Igoe of Grand Island, Florida; Jeanette Igoe of Estero, Florida; Patti (Richard) Igoe-Betts of Jackson, Mississippi; Susan (Joe) Parham of Santa Ana, California; Dan (Peggy) Igoe of Centennial, Colorado
She was preceded in death by her parents Helen and James Igoe, Brother, John Igoe, her son James "Scott" Slocum and her late husband, James Slocum.
She will be dearly missed by all her friends, relatives and extended families of Indian Hills Resort.
It was Tolly's wish to be cremated and be placed at Tolly's Point, upon the shorelines of Lake Sakakawea, where she spent most of her time living the life she loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family will dedicate any donations towards a memorial located at Indian Hills Resort.
