Vera Dilley, 90, Garrison, died on Friday, April 13 2018 at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm at Peace Lutheran Church in Garrison. Burial will be later in the spring at the Garrison City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from Noon until the time of services at the church.
Vera was born February 5, 1928 in Garrison, ND to Fay and Eva (Schwartzman) Dilley. She was raised on the family farm north of Garrison with her five siblings. After graduating from garrison High School, she moved to Michigan where she worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company. She also received her cosmetology license while living there. Vera moved back to Minot, ND and went to work for Northwest Bell Telephone where she worked for 30 years, retiring in 1978.
After retirement, Vera moved to the family home in Garrison. She enjoyed daily walks around the neighborhood and about town. She spent countless hours tending to her garden which she loved very much. She also spent a lot of time volunteering at the nursing home and enjoyed reading to the residents.
Vera is survived by her sisters, Violet Barker and Elnora Roske, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, LaVerne and Nettie, and brother, Glenn.
