VIOLET J TAYLOR, 84, Max, ND, formerly from Newton, MS, passed away February 26, 2014 in her home. Memorial services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Violet was born on December 16, 1929 in Wamego, Kansas to Orville & Cordelia Vines. She was raised and educated in Wamego KS. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company for many years. She was united in marriage on March 4, 1965 to Charles R. Taylor. Together they raised one daughter Donna while serving in the United States Air Force.
During his military career, they lived in various places, including Madrid Spain and Orlando Florida. She had a knack for making every place they lived a home.
Violet enjoyed being outdoors, working for hours on her flowers and fish ponds. She also had a love for bird watching and feeding the neighborhood cats, as long as they remained outdoors. Violet was a very kind and generous women. She would've given her last dollar to anyone who needed it. She was the rock of our family and will be deeply missed. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Violet is survived by Donna Grondahl, daughter of Minot, Jeremy Boulton, grandson and Brady Boulton great grandson of Fargo; Amber Grice (Gregory) granddaughter, Austin and Ethan great grandsons of Vandenberg AFB, CA. Sarah Martinson (Phillip) granddaughter, of Benedict, ND. Hilary Sorenson (Josh Bagwell) granddaughter and Mya Bagwell, great granddaughter and Emily Sorenson (Ryan Stevens) granddaughter of Minot and Baleigh and Aubree great granddaughters, and David B. Patterson grandson of New York City, NY and one sister Berniece Quest (Jim) of Rapid City South Dakota. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charley, sister Rosella, brothers Donald and Ray, daughter, Judy, and a son, Orville, and best friend Ramona Handley and her mom, granny.
