IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wanda
Torno
April 5, 1943 – October 30, 2020
Wanda Rodahl Torno, 77, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family October 30, 2020 after a 3 year battle with cancer. Private family funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. A public graveside service will be held immediately following funeral services following social distancing guidelines.
A public visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7 pm at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Wanda was born April 5, 1943 to Oscar and Olga (Teenquist) Rodahl. She lived in Emmet, ND where she attended Hackett Country School until 7 th grade, when the family moved into Garrison. Through high school she worked as an aide at the Garrison Hospital. Wanda married Marv Torno on June 24, 1961 and they moved to Kansas where Marv was stationed in the Army – first Salina, then Abilene and Junction City. They then moved back to Garrison for a short time, followed by Wolf Point MT, Poplar MT, Falkirk, Garrison (again), Loraine, Mohall, Turtle Lake, Fairview MT, Butte, and Washburn. Following Marv's death, Wanda settled in Dickinson where she lived until her passing. Through the years, she worked as a bookkeeper, nursing home cook, and in Dickinson was an administrative assistant at Community Action until her retirement.
Wanda was preceded in death by husband Marv in 1996, parents Oscar and Olga, brothers Kenneth and Wayne, sister Loretta, sister-in-law Viola Knuth, son-in-law Rodney Kubler and grandson Devin Kubler.
She is survived by daughters Tammy (Greg) Parisien, Colleen Kubler, Collette (Brian) Gartner, all of Minot; Tina (Robert) Grade, New Salem; and Wendy (Doug Harrington), Dickinson; grandchildren Misty (Jeremy) Mahaney, Lindsay (Darin) Johannes, Abbi Parisien, Becca Kubler, Amanda Burke, Sydni Gartner, Mathew (Erika) Grade, Mitchell (Samantha) Grade, and Keira Harrington (her best buddy and partner in crime); 16 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Donna Rodahl, Teresa Rodahl, Alice Torno; very special cousins, Gloria Gehring and Colleen Allers, dear friend Becky Byzewski, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Wanda was a creative, fun-loving soul who was always up for an adventure. At the young age of 76, her daughters, along with Gloria and Colleen, finally got her on an airplane bound for Arizona where she had the time of her life. She cherished those memories for the rest of her days. Wanda was always making something, whether it was crafts or an "experiment" in the kitchen. She loved every color, as long as it was blue, and was notorious for covering everything with glitter. Her laughter and kindness will be missed by all who knew her, but as the saying goes, "She who leaves behind a trail of glitter will never be forgotten".
