Wilfred "Butch" Kerzmann, 73, of rural Garrison, died Friday, June 26, 2015 in a Bismarck hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 30th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be at the Garrison City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29th, 2015 from 4 to 7 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison, ND.
Wilfred John "Butch" Kerzmann was born May 29th, 1942 in Minot, ND to John C. and Dorothy (Peterson) Kerzmann. He was raised on a farm near Emmet, ND. He attended Blackwater Country School and White Shield and Garrison High Schools. On February 1st, 1964 he married Dianne Basaraba of Wilton, ND; they had 5 children.
Butch worked various jobs before returning to the family farm he loved. He did custom combining up until the time of his death. He would always help his children with anything they needed. He was a man of strong faith and helped care for his two sons with special needs exemplifying John 15:13 "No one has a greater love than this, that someone would lay aside his life on behalf of others".
Butch was a very friendly man; he would always stop and take the time to visit no matter what he was doing. He was very handy and talented at fixing things. He loved running his Gleaner combine and enjoyed working on it. Hunting was his favorite thing to do of which there are many "interesting" and fun stories. But most of all he loved spending time with his family who will miss him dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dianne, daughters, Julie (Mark) Retterath, Garrison, sons, James Kerzmann, Garrison, Mike (Kari) Kerzmann, Garrison, Scott Kerzmann, Garrison, and David (Sara) Kerzmann, Garrison, grandchildren, Josh (Chelsey) Retterath, Andie Retterath and fiancé Zach Wentz, Sydney Retterath, Tayler Kerzmann, Kylee Kerzmann, Seth Kerzmann, Brooke Kerzmann, Averey Kerzmann, Connor Kerzmann, Hadley Kerzmann, and Landry Kerzmann, and great grandson, Keegan Retterath.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
